Location: Victoria, BC
Urban Steez: Tell us your name and how you came up with the name for your accessory line?
The name is Kyle Scott and my company's name is Detekt Clothing, the name pretty much came around from being my name as a street artist at the time.
Urban Steez: So when and how did you get started?
Kyle: I started Detekt Clothing in 2009. Basically I wanted a more legit way to bring my art work and ideas to the public eye and felt like people walking around with my art was the best way. Ever since then my life’s been dedicated to the craft.
Urban Steez: What is the concept behind your designs?
Kyle: The concepts behind my designs are pretty much whatever comes to mind, mostly fueled by my street art.
Urban Steez: Is there a specific group of people that you are trying to grab if so explain?
Kyle: Not trying to fit in to a certain crowd or era of apparel, Detekt’s sole purpose is to make clothing to make you look good. When you look good you feel good, and lets face it, life is just better when you feel good.
Urban Steez: I can agree with that. What can we expect from your accessory line in the future?
Kyle: A lot! I want to eventually move into jeans and shoes, not just shirts and sweaters.
Urban Steez: That’s wassup! What are your influences for your line?
Kyle: Many of the influences that you seem in my new line have been inspired by not only my street art and that culture, but experiences I have had growing up.
Urban Steez: What do you feel separates your line from the rest?
Kyle: I feel that what separates me from newer clothing lines coming out is how original I try to be with my designs. I feel a lot of other company's just take whatever rap song is hot at the time, take a line out of it give it some font and slap it on a shirt. People are always gonna say your art looks like this or it reminds them of something. In this day and age everything has been done before and I feel what’s really gonna be accepted as “original” is how you do your take on what’s been done before.
Urban Steez: Yea, I see the lack of creativity in upper brand tees everyday, and then have the audacity to tag it at $45+…. So, Give us a few fashion tips than can be useful?
Kyle: Sneaker head tip #250 always check weather before selecting kicks.
Urban Steez: Lol, note taken! Give us one MAJOR fashion NO-NO?
Kyle: I would have to say anything that is puke green colored.
Urban Steez: What have you learned being an up and coming line, Good and Bad?
Kyle: What I have learned so far being a up and coming line is don’t worry about what people say and always keep doing my thing. Also to never quit everybody’s got something to say and I won’t let it influence what I want.

Urban Steez: What is the best way to get a hold of your threads?
Kyle: The best way to get my threads as of right now is are online store www.detektclothing.com
Urban Steez: Every Clothing line usually has a “motto” or a “saying” that represents their clothing line, what is yours?
Kyle: "It’s more than clothing, it’s a lifestyle".
Urban Steez: Any additional words you like to say to your supporters?
Kyle: To everybody that supports me or has ever supported me. Without you we would be nothing, I owe everything to you, thank you.
