"A Perception can alter reality and innovate fantasy". That concept is the drive for Perception Photography to utilize it's energy to focus on art. The model is our object that takes place in a position in our mind. This thought is the work of art that visually entertains any viewer. A woman has the body that glistens with life, the man traps the instinct to hunt. These art forms and persona's have been locked away for decades. This is where I, Jason or Will, triumph the competition. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland on February 24th, 1988, Jason Bassett insisted on dissecting life and observing moments in stand still. William Exemar, born in Miami, Florida on January 18th, 1987 is constantly learning how to develop a trade and forming lucrative, substantial businesses. The editing is also completed by the members of Perception. Perception's next goal is to highlight the root of the Hip Hop culture. Joe Budden's "Padded Room" will portray a woman dieing within herself. Albums and song concepts by artists of substance is going to be the theme of all upcoming shoots. Once this begins, our legacy begins."
Urban Steez Interview with Jason of Perception PhotographyLocation: Miami
My name is Jason. Born in Silver Springs, Maryland. I moved to Florida when I was young. I over-analyze the world. My Partner, Will was born in Miami, Florida. He always follows the scent of another source of income. Urban Steez: How long have you been doing photography? Jason: Ha, it depends on when you ask. I usually tell people since I was born I have been capturing the world with a lens. Meaning the eye. I favor that lie. I actually got my first DSLR Nikon Camera 2 years ago. I gained interest from taking photos at the Swap Shop in Sunrise. I grew weary of family portraits and the regular hype/hood girls squatting for myspace photos. “Throw Them L’s Up” I jokingly uttered every damn day. Haha. Urban Steez: Lol you should see the model submission’s we get, I don’t know how many females I seen cop a squat….LMAO! So, being a photographer what do you feel is the most challenging task? Jason: The models. Each model has a different personality. You have to make them feel comfortable. The duration is takes to construct the concept and composition of the shoot, renting studios, or anything of the sort.. Does not matter. You have to deal with; The model who does a fantastic job and leaves, the one who demands money with no credentials or experience, some threaten you, some have the worst attitudes. The idea is, their all different. It is learning how to step around the boundaries to get the shots you want. Urban Steez: Damn, that’s crazy!! What advice would you give other photographers trying to come up? Jason: Shoot. Just keep shooting. Shoot everyone, network. You can’t be lazy. Photography is a hungry world and the competition is fierce. South Beach, Boca, Hollywood, Ft Lauderdale.. You name it. Be there. Urban Steez: That’s wassup!! What do you want to be known for when it comes to your photography? Jason: Shooting the sexiest ho’s. Haha.. Just messing around. I gain pride in my work by just creating art. Sometimes I do eye candy, but not in a grotesque, whorish way. I want to shoot artists and sophisticated women. I want to be known for wild, out of the normal realm concepts. I see all these other magazines taking below sub-par photos that make the covers. I will take over. Urban Steez: That’s wassup!! In your experience as a photographer what would you say has been the most rewarding? Jason: The end result. The picture. Then the relaxation until the next shoot. Urban Steez: Tell the world what Perception Photography is all about? Jason: Perception is all about giving the people something to ponder. You can’t just see an image and turn the page. No, that doesn’t happen. So basically, we are about you. Urban Steez: Can’t beat that! Any advice for models when it comes to working with you? Jason: Be open. Confirm shoots and be comfortable. Be hilarious, be ready to make friends. I’m too focused on life to fall back. Will and I constantly joke around during our shoots. We usually find the way to make you laugh. Also, I know it’s a recession. I keep that in mind. But damnit, throw some cash our way sometimes. If you want quality work, we got to eat too. Urban Steez: Lol… Money is key! I feel if you are serious about your craft you should have no problem investing in it! Is there someone in particular or something you would love to work with in your future? Jason: Oh yes, too many to name. As far as artists go, good artists. Like Joe Budden, Royce Da ‘59, Cam’Ron, Reks… etc. When it comes to woman, I’d say I have shot some of the best. I have another shoot with Vanessa-Nina that is going to be on a pier in South Beach. Jeneice and Chantelle (My fiancee) have a old-fashioned vintage theme lined up. It would be nice to shoot Christina Milian, Eva, Rihanna, Cassie and the likes. Also, the models on your site (like Chey N.). Urban Steez: That’s wassup, and they all should have no problem after seeing your work…What is your Jason: To form a lucrative corporation. For me, it isn’t about just pictures. I want to do videos, produce music, and control a segment on national T.V. It’s a freakin’ business world that is filled with possibilities. I need them all. Here is a Behind the Scenes that Vanessa recorded. Urban Steez: Well, you know Urban Steez is in, we keep it one hunned, you fam now…. Who are your influences? Jason: Photographers like Stephen Eastwood got me into this. A photographer I work with is who first got me into a camera. He would shoot women all day, and I was into that. Haha.. Who wouldn’t be. He is Snap photography. For me, at first.. It was about seeing girls. Now, it is strictly to use the charm to give you something to look at. Urban Steez: What’s in your sound system? Jason: In the Galant, I have Two 12’ in. alpine Type R’s with a Pioneer deck. I just like to make noise any way I can. At 3 am I am driving home just irritating everyone who is asleep, bumpin "Do or Die : Pimpin' ain't Dead". Urban Steez: Do or Die Ahhh memories!! I got to ask, any Celebrity crushes? Jason: Haha. The fiancee would kill me. I really never got infatuated with celebrity status. Their people to me. Now to shoot them, would shock others. I don’t know why, but hey. Urban Steez: Good answer, tell your fiancée Urban Steez said, “Hi”! lol How can fans of your art contact you? Jason: Openly Jason- (954) 558-4212.. Will (954) 594-9415. Our main network page is www.modelmayhem.com/ Perception.photography@yahoo. Urban Steez: Any Shout Outs? Jason: Shouts to Family, Supporters, Urban Steez, Fans, People That Hate. Shout out to everyone. Anyone involved with the struggle life brings. Life is too positive to get you down.
