OhGinelle

How can you describe OhGinelle? A combination of sweet sultry vocals, blending R&B, pop, and classical all into one. That’s how you can define OhGinelle. Inspired by artists such as Diana ross, Sade, Brandy, Mya, and Tamia, OhGinelle's smooth and soulful vocals are a new twist on the classics.

Born in New York and raised in beautiful south Florida, OhGinelle is known for saying "I'd rather sing then talk. I'd rather dance then walk". It may seem backwards, but to OhGinelle it makes total sense. OhGinelle's musical foundation was established at the tender age of seven. She attended a music school where she played the piano and often auditioned for roles in plays. One year she managed to get a lead role that included singing. "I sang Etta James 'At Last'. I was kind of nervous, but the audience loved it and gave me my first standing ovation." From that point, there was no denying that music would be her life.

OhGinelle is very versatile, and has performed many different genres of music from rock, to pop, to calypso, which has influenced her tremendously. This singer/songwriter enjoys writing and telling her stories in songs and enjoys reliving memories with every word. Even the bad memories, it reminds me of who I am and exactly how I got here. The song bird spends her time writing music, composing, and attending dance and vocals classes.

With style, grace, intelligence, creativity, amazing vocals, and a bit of sexiness, the sky is the limit. There are no boundaries for this up and coming artist. She is looking forward to a year filled with any music opportunity that god may lead her towards. No fear equals no limits!

Unsigned Hype OhGinelleUrban Steez: Tell everybody your name and what area you represent?

My name is OhGinelle and I was born in New York, and raised in Fort. Lauderdale, Florida.

Urban Steez: How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?

OhGinelle: My motto is, “Id rather sing before I talk, I’d rather dance before I walk”. I’ve been doing music for as long as I remember! It really dawned on me that music was something I wanted to do as a career at the young age of 7 when my mother enrolled me in a music school. There, I learned to play the piano, I sang in bands, and participated in plays. It was a lot of hard work and practice, but it was always so much fun!

Urban Steez: That’s wassup! The hard work shows, you have major talent. How would you describe your style and why?

OhGinelle: I would call my style of music Urban Pop. It is combination of R&B, pop, and a hint of classical. It is fun capturing and easy on the ears!

Urban Steez: If you had to pick which label to be signed to what would it be and why?

OhGinelle: It would either be Universal or Sony. Both of these labels take great care of there artists and make sure they get a great amount of promotion.

Urban Steez: I can see that mos def. Who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?

OhGinelle: One artist I would love the chance to collaborate with would be Ryan Leslie. He has such a fresh and original take on music and I love that when you hear his sound, you know it’s him. Anything we would do together would be amazing!

Urban Steez: Nice, Ryan and you would make some magic real talk! Do you write your own music? If so, What are your inspirations?

OhGinelle: Yes, I do write the majority of my own music. I get inspired by all of my experiences and surroundings. Music is like a picture waiting to be painted, and the more you can relate to a song, the more vibrant the colors become! Writing is a great outlet for me, so I try to write as much of my own material as I can.

Urban Steez: Nice… So what are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?

OhGinelle: Right now I am getting the perfect combination of songs together for my album. I’m working on having a sound that can appeal to all the masses. I’m not sure how long it will take to finish the album because you can’t rush perfection, but I will be leaking a few on the way to keep the fans engaged in my project.

Urban Steez: I can’t wait for that joint to drop, that one cut “Boo Lovin” , hit the spot!! Let the Steez know when that album drops. So,where do you see yourself a year from now?

OhGinelle: In a year, I would like to be branding myself as the one to watch in the industry internationally! I would like to be attending award shows and taking home a few awards for best new artist, and song of the year!

Urban Steez: Good Stuff! Who are your influences?

OhGinelle: I would have to take it back to when music was timeless and say Diana Ross, Sade, Aaliyah, Tamia, and Brandy. All of these artists had that something special that could make just about any one just stop in their tracks and listen. I would love to have that same opportunity to influence and inspire many other young artists like these ladies have.

Urban Steez: Aaliyah was my Boo Luv for a minute lol, miss her!! What do you think of the hip hop/ Unsigned Hype OhGinellemusic world right now?

OhGinelle: It’s nothing at all like it used to be! We live in a world of ringtone music and dance crazes! I would not say that hip hop/ music is dead at all, but I would say that it needs to be refreshed! Some of the new artist with actual messages need to be given a chance to shine and show that we do have more talk about then rims and ass!

Urban Steez: PREACH!! Lol yea that “rims and ass” talk is overdue in my book!  What do you think you bring to the music game as far as your music is concerned?

OhGinelle: I’m bringing back that feel good music, that soul music! I make music that people can make memories to. Songs that people can relate to and understand! That is the point of music!

Urban Steez: Yes its is…What music do you have playing in your sound system right now?

OhGinelle: As of right now Adele, MIA, Jay Z, Rihanna, Ryan Leslie, Melanie Fiona, and Ne-Yo are on heavy rotatation on my play list.

Urban Steez: Okay I see your play list be Poppin!! Who is your celebrity crush?

OhGinelle: I don’t have one at the moment, but I used to want to marry Craig David!

Urban Steez: What ever happen to dude… How can business heads and fans contact you in the future (MySpace, email, number, etc.)?
